While no portion was, for me, unpleasant, I will be shocked if there is a third date. The patent law conversation was really my Waterloo. At least I learned things. Like talk less about patent law. Damned pro-patent-ladies. Also, I got to call something my Waterloo, so hey, silver linings. Ugh. The food portion of dinner was so great I’d have to call it my Austerlitz. I am Napoleon, by...

Today felt like the day I really started. I got submitted maybe 9 times during sparring. I thought for half a second I broke a rib at one point. I could barely breathe sparring with this one guy when he had a his knee on my chest. I have to keep that leg high. My mother, who is a pretty smart woman, doesn’t begin to understand how this is enjoyable. It is. Date two tomorrow. I hope I can...

I just did some cleaning. After, I washed my hands. That felt insufficient so I poured the last remnants of a bottle of vodka a Russian friend had given me on my hands. That felt sufficient.

I do not come off well in this story. Just a watcher, not an actor. My biggest flaw. I was on the escalator going into a metro station.  In front of me was a woman, early 20s if past the age of 20. She was with a child the age of five or six. Mother, probably, but maybe sister. She grabbed at his arm with way too much force. Halfway down the escalator he got free of her hand and she violently...

Wake up? Before noon? On a Saturday? And do something strenuous? Surely this is some sort of practical joke.

Hot showers at night on psuedo-spring days, not...
Not after lots of bruising exercise and the soreness and it all goes away. Date two, achieved, and she moved it up, so yay. We will see how that goes. Coming soon, the covers. This post, written while showering

I just ran into the last person I went on a date with.* This is how the universe works. *That was roughly sixteen million years ago. Post-dinosaur, pre-plain sloth. Long before god created the world in its present form 8,000 years ago. I assume this is a sign of how “and this too shall pass.” Or coincidence. It could be that. No worries, going to go get beaten up now at BJJ.

Con: this kiss good night was terribly awkward. Pro: there was a kiss good night, and surely less awkward ones in the future. Also, if you know me, you will not believe, I did not look at my cell phone once from 8:00 to 10:45. That is really the highest praise I can give such a great evening.

I feel like the two episodes of New Girl I am getting in will be helpfull. Ahhh my hair is just getting worse and worse URG the brush and the comb are in it together. My room is some how messier. I don’t think that’s how you spell messier. I am instead spelling it like the galactic catalog. Thank god there is not a written portion to dates. IS THERE? I DON’T KNOW HOW...

I have a date tonight. This means I can only get in an hour and forty five minutes of Skyrim*. I am so functional. *kidding, just gonna fret and stare at my hair. Maybe clean a little in the superpresumptive way one cleans a bedroom before first dates. Hmm, new plan, just going to clean my house in Skyrim. That makes oodles of sense. Aaaaahhhhh. Also, unrelated note, Jusky is incredible....

Morning showers in Winter are vicious lies
They are terrible, really. You start off the day all warm and full of life, then, boom, it is cold. You go outside, it is cold. Work, cold. Evening, cold. It is all cold until the end of the day, back under the covers, waiting for that next shower.* *This is an unsaved post from a day when it was not above 50 degrees. It makes no sense today.

I really did not recall the implied forced plublic blow job(obviously, that is rape) in the Firefly episode Heart of Gold. That is even more horrific than what the Hands of Blue do, because head popping sonic weapons are not in general usage.

SIMON Are you Alliance? EARLY Am I a lion? SIMON What? EARLY I don’t think of myself as a lion.  (tickled) You might as well, though. I have  a mighty roar. SIMON I said Alliance. EARLY Oh. I thought… SIMON No, I was… EARLY That’s weird. (beat) Where’s your sister? SIMON I don’t know. Who do you work for? EARLY This is her room. SIMON Yes. EARLY...

Endings
My three favorite movie endings are the ending of Master and Commander, the ending of Out of Sight, and the ending of Redbelt. I fully acknowledge that there are better endings, but those three quicken my heart the most. My favorite climax to a film is the climax of the Last of the Mohicans, from the waterfall cave through the village e to the cliffs. Years ago I would have put the Usual...

Committing
Those of you who know me(Hi, 4 followers) know what I am something of a fat weakling. This was not always the case. I was not always fat. I was however always a weakling.*  *Not really during gymnastics, but still I was pretty weak compared to the rest of the team. Now there are lots of ways to become less fat and less weak. For example, I have access to a community pool. I could go swim in it....

Better than The League.
I am in a fantasy baseball league. There is both an Eric and an Erikk in our league. They have never met. Shit got real today. Eric decided to jokingly make an enemy by sending the below email.  I’m taking immediate opportunity to call out Erikk as my team’s rival.  His unconscionable spelling of the name obviously comes from some Nordic tradition, and as an Irishman I am obligated...

Thinking is great(or life finds a way)
Fact: L’Enfant Plaza has platforms on either side and trains run through the middle. Fact:Archives metro station has a platform in between the trains. I have a layman’s interest in complex adaptive systems or complexity theory or Ian Malcolm. Years ago I saw Melanie Mitchell give a talk about her book Complexity: A Guided Tour. I was very impressed with the idea of genetic algorithms. In my...
